“It’s OK to BE ANGRY but …”

Today we begin our new sermon series, “It’s OK to … but …” with the topic of ANGER.

Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun do down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.

Ephesians 4:26-27 (ESV)

God gave us emotions, including anger, for a reason. But like all things, we need to use them within the bounds God has given us. Outside those bounds lie danger and sin. So, how can we be angry but not sin?

  • Mark 11:15-17
  • Ephesians 4:25-27
  • James 1:19-20

DONATE BLOOD at LIFEBRIDGE – Give the Gift of Life

You are needed – to save lives!

With surgeries starting back up at local hospitals, the need for more blood donations is growing daily. Your blood donation is essential to keep the blood supply strong and steady. Without on-going donors, we cannot ensure patients have the blood they need.

Currently, Type O blood especially is in demand, and we’re asking you to come in and donate today! The Blood Center has less than a one-day supply of blood on their shelves right now.

BE SOMEONE’S HERO. MAKE A BLOOD DONATION.

Please note that this blood drive will be by appointment only to promote social distancing. Also, free Hero Masks will be offered to all successful donors!

GOD’S PROMISES: Hope

Today we wrap up our sermon series: “GOD’S PROMISES” as they relate to HOPE!

“GOD’S PROMISES: Hope”

Challenges and heartaches will always be with us while we are in this world. God promised us as much. But He has overcome the world, so we can rejoice and have hope, no matter what! We need to remember that every day.

SCRIPTURES:

  • Psalm 130
  • Romans 5:1-5
  • Romans 15:13

“It’s OK to BE A DEMOCRAT/REPUBLICAN but …”

Today we look at the divisive topic of cultural politics in our “It’s OK to … but …” series. Specifically, that of being a Christian and also a DEMOCRAT or REPUBLICAN.

The LORD said, “They have rejected Me from being king over them.”

1 Samuel 8:7 (ESV)

The amount of venom sprayed forth from people (many Christians!) onto others simply because of their party affiliation and views is disheartening and, often, disgusting.

What should be the mindset, attitude, and actions of a Christian within the realm of our cultural politics – and why?

Join us for this special topic.

SCRIPTURES USED:

  • Romans 13:1-7
  • 1 Samuel 8:4-8

“It’s OK to DRINK ALCOHOL but …”

Today in our “It’s OK to … but …” sermon series: ALCOHOL.

Do not get drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18 (ESV)

Much is made of the fact that some Christians drink and others staunchly eschew all alcohol and the dangers involved.

What are we to make of this and how should we address this – as all things – in a godly way?

Join us as we explore.

SCRIPTURES USED:

  • John 2:1-11
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:5-11

“It’s OK to … but …” — New Sermon Series

Some of you say, “We can do whatever we want to!” But I tell you that not everything may be good or helpful. We should think about others and not about ourselves…

When you eat or drink or do anything else, always do it to honor God…

I always try to please others instead of myself, in the hope that many of them will be saved.

1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31, 33 (CEV)

Are Christians really free? What does that mean for how we can and should act? How do our emotions play into our freedoms and actions?

These tough questions play out for us every day in the decisions we make.

More specifically, there are many areas of our lives that get ignored, glossed over, over emphasized, or vandalized – and that shouldn’t be!

In our new sermon series, “It’s OK to … but …”, we are going to take a look at some of the important and practical issues every Christian faces and see what they mean for us as followers of Jesus.

The topics we will cover are, “It’s OK to … but …”

  • Be Angry
  • Grieve
  • Doubt
  • Be Hurt
  • Have Sex
  • Drink Alcohol
  • Be a Democrat/Republican

Join us each week – in person or online! – as we explore these important areas of freedom and duty!

GOD’S PROMISES: Patience / Endurance

Today we discuss “GOD’S PROMISES” as they relate to patience and endurance.

“GOD’S PROMISES: Patience & Endurance”

Confinement; job loss; financial and physical strains: all affect us beyond what we would like to admit.

Enduring this for long periods is ‘challenging,’ to say the least.

Patience is part of the “Fruit of the Spirit,” but we can find it in short supply.

How do we endure in faith and patience in whatever circumstance we find ourselves?

SCRIPTURES:

  • Psalm 33:18-22
  • Ephesians 6:10-13
  • James 1:2-4
  • Isaiah 40:27-31

REMEMBER: Next week we’re back in person!!

Read, see, and listen more about that here.

The Book of Susanna

The Apocryphal Book of Susanna

Connected to the book of Daniel for ages, this apocryphal book connects us to the same themes as Daniel and gives us an “introduction” to the person of Daniel.
