Man Overboard!

Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord.

John 21:12bc

When Peter heard that it was Jesus on the shore, he jumped in the water.

But why? Was it because he couldn’t wait to go see Him and apologize to Him for his denial or because He couldn’t bear the thought of facing Him due to it?

The good news is that Peter made it to the shore – to Jesus!

Jump, but don’t swim away. Find your way to His merciful arms!

Scriptures

  • John 21:1-14

Double Trouble

Have you believed because you have seen Me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.

John 20:29

Thomas gets a tough wrap. So many people he knows and trusts tell him the best news ever and he doubts.

But, honestly, how many times do we find ourselves in the same situation? How many times are we told, again and again, how much Jesus loves us, forgives us, and is for us, and we don’t believe – wanting some kind of “proof” to convince us.

As if the resurrection and Scriptures aren’t proof enough!

May we be blessed in believing – without seeing!

A Common Greeting for Uncommon Times

As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!”

Luke 24:36

In the context of the text, the Disciples were confused, frightened, and faced with problems they were not yet equipped to handle.

Jesus had been crucified and buried.

Women followers reported the resurrection.

The forces that were at work to kill Jesus were then directed against His followers.

All-in-all, an uncommon and difficult day.

Jesus opened them up to hear and believe God’s way, truth, and life recorded to bring us peace.

Scriptures

  • Luke 24:36-49

See AND Understand

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Luke 24:27

The resurrection of Jesus brings completion to the prophecies of the Old Testament and clarity to the future awaiting all of us.

It helps us focus on the reality of Life beyond this life and that all our fears and uncertainties are temporary.

And all of this happens when Jesus, the resurrected One, opens Scripture – opens Himself – to us through the Holy Spirit!

May we be open to Him as He opens Himself to us – and live accordingly!

Scriptures

  • Luke 24:13-35

Talking with God

When we pray, we are talking with God, just like we talk to mommy and daddy. We can thank God for things He’s given us, ask Him for help, and talk to Him when we’re scared.

Join us as we start this new 4-week Toddler series on Sunday, April 24.
