Holy Communion, Part 2 — Why & How?

This week we will continue our look at the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Some of what we’re covering include:

Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

John 5:54-55
  1. WHY
    1. Forgiveness
    2. Life / Salvation
    3. Commanded by God
  2. HOW
    1. through Faith
    2. in Humility
    3. with Examination / Understanding
  3. The Lord’s Supper is for those
    1. Who are baptized children of God
    2. Who sincerely repent of their sins
    3. Believe Jesus has forgiven their sins
    4. Who recognize the real presence of Jesus’ Body and Blood at the Lord’s Table
  4. Keep in mind:
    1. We believe, teach, and confess that there is only one kind of unworthy guest, those who do not believe. Of them it is written, “Those who do not believe are condemned already” [John 3:18]. The unworthy use of the holy sacrament increases, magnifies, and aggravates this condemnation (1 Cor. 11:27, 29)

Scriptures

  • Matthew 26:26–29
  • John 6:53–58
  • 1 Corinthians 10:14–21, 11:17–34

“Bless Our Building!” for the Pregnancy Center

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”

Proverbs 16:3

The Sealy Pregnancy Resource Center is EXPANDING and needs your help to get it started on the Word of God!

They are hosting an Open House to tour the new facility and ask that we “Bless Our Building” by writing a Bible verse on the studs to reinforce the new building with God’s Word!

Be a Blessing Partner by becoming a one-time donor. Be an Abundant Blessing Partner by committing to a regular gift and have your name added to the Abundance Tree inside the new building to honor our partnership.

Can’t participate on March 12? Post your Bible verse on the Sealy PRC Facebook page, email support@sealyprc.com, or text 979-627-5584 and one of the Sealy PRC staff will write your verse for you. Then go to their website to donate.

Holy Communion, Part 1 — What?

We take two weeks to look at Holy Communion. This week we will look at what it is; including:

Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

John 5:54-55
  1. a Sacrament,
  2. Jesus’ Last Supper
  3. a celebration of the Passover [and what that means]

Scriptures

  • Matthew 26:26-29
  • John 6:27-58

Called by God’s Grace

Today we remember the amazing conversion of St. Paul – and how God used him mightily as His servant.

And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”

Acts 9:20 (ESV)

He ensured much and had a difficult life, but was still the most prolific writer of Gospel-filled letters in Scripture!

What would we suffer for the sake of Jesus? What will we endure for His Name?

Scriptures

  • Acts 9:1–22
  • Galatians 1:11–24

Luncheon for Stacy Wills

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24 [NLT]

Stacy Wills is retiring 😢, but we are so thankful for her dedicated and faithful ministry for so many years. Not just at LifeBridge, but throughout her ministry.

She has been a beautifully humble, dedicated, loving, talented, and creative teacher, sharing the love of Jesus with countless number of children and their families.

So it is fitting that we take some time to share our thanks and appreciation.

On Sunday, January 30, 2022, following worship, we will have a luncheon in the café. All are welcome and invited!

We will also be sharing our appreciation during worship that day.

Come eat, fellowship, and let Stacy know how much you appreciate her and all she has done!
